Land Rover Lexicon 1960s Series IIA Custom

Land Rover Lexicon 1960s Series IIA Custom – Famously known for restoring vintage Defenders, Himalaya 4×4 (HIMALAYA) is proud to present another fantastic heritage truck from Land Rover’s lexicon in their newest 1960s Series IIA custom build. Commissioned out of Himalaya’s recently opened state of the art production facility, the ‘Series’ highlights one of Land Rover’s most historic trucks while discreetly modernizing the endlessly endearing rig for today’s roads. Now simply referred to as ‘Series’ trucks, Land Rover first started producing the Series I in 1948 followed by the Series II and III.

“For Land-Rover it all started with the Series, the trucks that laid the groundwork for the iconic brand. There would be no Defender without the Series,” comments Himalaya 4×4 President Greg Shondel. “We have always been drawn to the Series vehicles. Designed for serviceability and adaptability these vehicles would prove to become the ultimate field vehicle for many years to come. While the Defender deservedly receives a lot of attention, enthusiasts are recognizing just how special the Series Land Rovers are. For collectors that want something unique, the Himalaya Series delivers the epitome of refinement in a stout, dependable truck engineered for today’s modern driving conditions.”

Equipped with a powerful 300-horsepower GM-sourced V6 engine mated to a 6L80-E transmission, Himalaya’s new Series Land Rover produces 340 lb.-ft. of torque. With a TDI diesel engine option also available, Himalaya makes sure drivers have the power to tackle anything on or off-road. That modern performance paired with the traditionally classic design make for an entertaining driver that instantly makes an impression out on the road.

The new Himalaya Series custom rests on a modern coil-sprung chassis that helps the truck handle better and ride more comfortably. An upgraded off-road suspension package features Fox suspension components that soften the ride for driver and passengers alike. Custom disc brakes upgrade stopping power to a decidedly modern level.  And the addition of power steering which these vehicles would never have had.  Interestingly, Himalaya engineers integrated Defender axles into the Series build to add two inches of width to the rig’s stance, greatly improving vehicle stability. The Himalaya Series custom rests on a set of 18 inch paint-matched steel Wolf wheels in the vehicle’s midnight blue colorway in a further ode to the rig’s vintage aesthetic.

Himalaya spent hundreds of hours restoring the vintage Series cabin while tastefully updating the truck with modern upgrades. The Himalaya Series is equipped with a hidden console that features a premium Alpine sound system with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing drivers to enjoy the best of modern technology without sacrificing the classic Series styling. A period-correct wood steering wheel is a focal point of the handsome interior with billet aluminum shift knobs and switches throughout. Seats and header are fashioned in durable boot suede leather that richly compliments the saloon. Available on commission, Himalaya’s vintage Land Rover builds range in price from $200,000 – $350,000.
