Cleetus’ latest vid caught our attention
Electric Vehicle Depreciation, with almost 1 million views, I’m sure most automotive enthusiasts have already seen Cleetus’ latest video, published 18h ago as of today, July 19th, we understand why electric vehicle depreciation is an issue. The technology in some of these vehicles is trash. Voted by the fans, the plan was to “destroy” Squirrels Tesla, and Cleet did some online research to see what the replacement vehicle could potentially be.
Coming across the Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack, an all-electric version of Dodge’s iconic muscle car. Featuring dual-motor all-wheel drive, it produces 670 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, rocketing from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. Pricing generally starts around $72,495, though packages and options vary according the to the Dodge website.1
We Got This Car For 50% Off and Still Regretted It
Cleet’s plan was simple: if they could snag the electric Dodge Charger for half off the sticker price, they were all in. But after a test drive and struggling to launch the “tank,” of a vehicle, even at 50% off they started second-guessing the deal. On the way back to Bald Eagle Airfield, the glass roof cracked, the electric range was disappointing at around 200 miles, and pulling off a launch or burnout was nearly impossible. Still, Cleet managed to pull off some solid donuts once they got back to the shop.
We don’t think it’s necessary to cite sources on how automotive enthusiasts feel about electric vehicles, but we do believe there’s a time and place for them. Many motorsports’ athletes are embracing the EV world, and it’s clear it’s here to stay. Still, nothing compares to experiencing the raw power of an American muscle car or an import—an experience that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Brad Deberti’s Recent Experience
Brad got the chance to tear around the track in an EV rally car. It was a totally different experience compared to gas-powered cars, but still a fun and nerve-racking time—especially for his dad.
Channel 199 – Travis Pastrana’s E-Bike Test
Travis noticed how quiet the electric bikes were, meaning the neighbors wouldn’t be upset and there could be more options for hosting events. It’s nice to see some positives coming from the electric vehicle world.
Electric Vehicle Depreciation, The Reality for Enthusiasts
Gas muscle cars are climbing in value, no question. The push for EVs is clear, with 13 states—California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington—moving forward with California’s Advanced Clean Cars II (ACC II) and Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) standards. These rules require automakers to make 35% of new car sales ZEVs by 2026, ramping up to 100% by 2035. Virginia initially adopted the regulations, though attempts to repeal them continue. Meanwhile, every state is working toward EV adoption by expanding fast-charging networks.2
Here are the specific factors driving this rapid value loss and electric vehicle depreciation:
- Tax Credit Adjustments: New EVs often qualify for substantial government subsidies. On the secondary market, used buyers automatically deduct these incentives from the purchase price, severely dropping the resale value of the car.
- Fast-Moving Technology: Just like smartphones, EV technology moves quickly. Newer models feature significantly longer driving ranges and faster charging speeds, which causes older EVs to feel outdated quickly.
- Battery Anxiety: Consumers worry about the longevity of the battery pack and the cost of replacing it, which makes used EV buyers hesitant and drives down dealer offers.
- New Price Cuts & Leases: Aggressive new-car price cuts and heavy reliance on leasing—which dumps a high volume of off-lease EVs back onto the market simultaneously—flood the used market and push residual values down.
In conclusion, we believe electric vehicle technology still has some time to develop. Hybrid vehicles are likely to become increasingly popular, addressing some of the earlier mentioned factors contributing to electric vehicle depreciation. Outside of motorsports, it’s hard to imagine the everyday enthusiast fully embracing the electric vehicle scene anytime soon; after all, a subwoofer in the back can’t replace the roar of a wide-open dual exhaust Shelby.
About CarShowz.com
CarShowz.com was born from decades of real automotive experience — the kind earned under shop lights, at late‑night meets, and through thousands of miles chasing the next great build. In 2009, we took a scrappy .us domain and turned it into a mission: fix the chaos of forums, flyers, and outdated event info. So we built the one-stop garage for car culture.
What started as a simple event hub evolved fast. Our passion behind the lens exploded, and automotive photography became the heartbeat of CarShowz — capturing the chrome, the craftsmanship, and the stories that make this community legendary.
CarShowz isn’t just a platform. It’s a crew. A movement. A brand forged by years of real‑world automotive grit — built by people who live it, breathe it, and bring it to life for the world to see.
