Knights of Columbus 8th Annual Car Show – The Knights of Columbus in Severna Park hosted their 8th annual car, truck, and bike show on Sunday July 31, 2022. Over 80 cars, trucks, and bike turned out for the event, making this the largest show the organization has ever hosted. The club awarded trophies to the top 30 people’s choice and three best in show. Proceeds from the show will benefit the organization and the charities that they support.
A couple cars in particular caught my eye. First was 1980 Corvette sporting a Greenwood Daytona body kit, manufactured by Eckler’s Corvette. The design of this kit is truly wild with the rear spoiler sticking out nearly a foot past the back of the car. Besides calling on some friends to do the interior and paint accents, the owner performed the rest the restoration and modifications himself over a two-year period. The owner took the outrageous body style a step further, adding Lamborghini style doors hinges, a custom hood, vents in the front fenders, and a split window in the rear.

The other car that drew my attention was a 1959 Chevy Impala. From the outside, it sits low to the ground thanks to its air ride suspension. All of the chrome really stood out thanks to the dark blue paint. Inside, other than front seats from a modern car, the rest of the interior was all custom made. The contrast of the blue paint on the dash with the medium brown of the seating was simply spot on. The drivetrain consisted of a Chevy big block 409, a turbo 350 transmission, and Ford 9” rear end. It was easy to see why this car took home one of the coveted Best in Show trophies.
