Toys 4 Tots Bike & Toy Drive Cruise-in
Pep Boys Speed Shop Glen Burnie, MD.: If you are from the DMV, than you are surely familiar with last year’s Toys 4 Tots toy drive, hosted by Pep Boys Speed Shop Glen Burnie, MD. and help from surrounding stores, shops, friends and family. Last year’s cruise-in brought in close to 100 bikes, several boxes of toys and joy brought to the community by the car and truck enthusiasts in the surrounding areas.
The holidays are supposed to be a joyous time, stress free, a time to spend with your family and friends, unwind from work and just relax. For some, it is a stressful time, worrying about putting food on the table, getting their kids something to open for Christmas. This year adds an added layer of stress with COVID; travel restrictions, people are out of work and just an added stress that’s not needed.
Pep Boys Speed Shop Manager Jeremy Cornwell has previously partnered with East Coast Indoor Nationals (ECIN), a premier car and truck show hosted in Timonium, MD that takes place in early December. Between friends and family of the Speed Shop and the combination of the ECIN show, that has provided a great resource to collect toys for people in need. However, given state restrictions, ECIN was forced to close down this year (2020) leaving the Toys 4 Tots hanging for this holiday season.
A backup plan needed to be formed, so Jeremy called friends and is making it happen. The Speed Shop is going to host a Cruise-in on 11/29 to continue their Toys 4 Tots toy drive and the drive is definitely coming together nicely!
So, what does over 120+ bikes look like and a bunch of friends getting together to build these bikes? Take a look at Clifton Brown’s post:
Clifton says it best himself, “don’t pay attention to the news, there are good people out there.” This is what good people look like right here. The generosity goes through the roof and I’m also amazed at how many bikes they knocked out in a short period of time. I would also like to note how safe of an environment that was created when putting the bikes together, social distancing, wearing masks and using hand sanitizer. Well done!
