While most of the country is hunkered down this time of year, Arizona is starting to ramp up the number of car shows available to enthusiasts. I can’t really say it’s the start of show season because the weather here is so amazing that it allows car shows to happen virtually year-round. (Yes, I’m rubbing it in!) On Saturday, February 8th Lowlife Arizona hosted Lowlife Lineup #7. Last year’s show was one of the most enjoyable I’ve been able to shoot so I was excited to be going back. There’s a vibe at Lineup that I think every show should…

The story of how I ended up at this show (Lowlife Lineup #6) started at the Hot Wheels Legends Tour show I went to in September.  I spent some time looking at a VW Thing with a rust-like patina and a vibrant top.  I noticed a For Sale sign in the glove box and it stuck with me throughout the day because the patina wasn’t rust.  The Thing had been in a garage that burnt down around it and the patina was from the fire!  I wanted to know a little more about it and noticed that Doug’s Buggs was…

Kevin Cunningham and Jason Johnston teamed up in Lake Havasu City, Arizona to bring to you this awesome feature of Jason’s Volkswagen Type 3 Squareback. CarShowz.com was created 10 years ago, to create and capture a calendar of local automotive events for enthusiasts. A couple of years into creating the website we have expanded into photography and automotive event coverage. This feature among many others we have published is exactly why we do what we do, preserving automotive history and sharing stories. We want to thank Jason for taking the time to interview with Kevin and for Kevin who is…

Resolution Show 2018: My Travels I love going on adventures, I love driving to places I’ve never been, and I love car shows.  When Jeff floated the idea of me going to Resolutions 2018 I jumped at the chance.  Life is always hectic but sometimes a trip out to a show is just what’s needed.  As the end of the year drew nearer and nearer, I continued to put off finding a hotel.  I’m pretty sure it was my lizard brain forcing me into turning the Resolutions trip into a camping trip as well.  Thursday night I packed 4 different…

In 1968 Hot Wheels launched a series of die-cast cars that became known as the “Sweet 16.”  These toys are ubiquitous in American culture and I think every kid has memories of racing them or crashing them.  Or both.  Over time the Hot Wheels collection grew to over 25,000 unique cars.  Fifty years after the initial release, Hot Wheels decided to launch a tour, Hot Wheels Legends Tour – to find the best vehicle builds across the country to immortalize as a die-cast.  The goal for them was to stop at 15 locations and hold a show.  At each show judges…

On October 22nd the Gila Bend Municipal Airport will be seeing something other than air traffic.  Omegamotorsport is bringing NoFlyZone back to Arizona (NoFlyZone Arizona) for a full day of side-by-side half-mile races on the 5,200 foot runway.  The event won’t have specific run groups so drivers will be able to take on any other vehicle at any time.  Both lanes will be equipped with Speed Trap equipment so drivers can assess their runs, TORCO race fuel and a food vendor will be on site so both vehicles and humans can satiate their hunger, and the racing is even open…

Jason Duhon is a man of passion.  He has a passion for family, a passion for car culture, and a passion for Cadillacs.  I was fortunate enough to meet Jason while I was in Laughlin, NV for the Forbidden Fantasy show and I can personally attest to the statements above.  The pride he has in his sons was palpable as he described their accomplishments to me.  At certain times during our conversations he would call out to someone walking by and walk over to give them a hug.  It was refreshing to see a grown man with so many healthy interpersonal…

Concours In The Hills was hosted in Fountain Park in Fountain Hills, Arizona on Saturday 11, 2017 and also the new home for CarShowz Photographer Kevin Cunningham. Not only does Kevin have the privilege of having near perfect weather, he is also closer to the West Coast car scene which makes us a bit jealous. The inaugural 2014 Concours in the Hills attracted 213 cars, a couple of thousand spectators, just four sponsors and raised $25,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs. The second, in 2015 had 444 cars, about 10,000 spectators, 36 sponsors and raised well over $60,000. In…

Goodguys 19th Southwest Nationals kicked off in Scottsdale, Arizona on Friday, November 18th to some seasonably warm weather.  Being relatively new to the area and feeling slightly adjusted, I decided to start looking for shows to attend.  I came across the flyer for the Southwest Nationals and decided it would be a nice motorcycle ride at the very least.  I apparently had no clue what I was getting myself into.  There ended up being over 3300 vehicles and tens of thousands of spectators.  Walking in was so overwhelming it took me about 10 minutes to collect my thoughts and figure out…

I grew up in a town called Horseheads, New York. I lived directly off a 55 mile-per-hour two lane road that linked many small towns. If you were to follow that road north for 15 miles you would end up in Watkins Glen, New York.  Why is that important? Because that is the exact route that NASCAR teams take when they’re hauling their race cars to Watkins Glen International. NASCAR races at “The Glen” were a huge deal when I was growing up, my siblings and I would go stand twenty feet from the road as these gigantic trucks roared…

Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival 2016 – Watkins Glen, New York, does it sound familiar? To some NASCAR fans and waterfall enthusiasts it might; to most, it probably won’t. Sitting at the bottom of Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region of New York, Watkins Glen packs quite a few secrets. One of which is that the town is home to the Watkins Glen Grand Prix. Organizers shut down the streets in October of 1948 and held the first sports car road race of the post-World War II era. An unfortunate accident in 1952 saw the Grand Prix moved to…

OC Car and Truck Show 2016 kicked off on June 11-12. Kevin Cunningham from SeaHamm Photography represented us and held down the coverage. Check out Kevin’s review and photo coverage below. The OC Car and Truck Show is baaaaaaaaack! By “back” I mean more cars, better entertainment, better builds, and way more attendees than the previous two years managed to bring in. I’ll touch on each of those points shortly. The OC Car and Truck Show 2016 is an annual Spring event held in Ocean City and hosted by Livewire Media. This year’s event was sponsored by Berlin Auto Group, SoundFX,…

Cruisin Ocean City 2016 by Kevin Cunningham, Seahamm Photography – The morning of Saturday, May 21st was overcast and cool.  It was the perfect day to sleep in.  So, it only makes sense that I was up and out of bed by 4:45 a.m.  There are very few days throughout the year that I forego sleep and rise before the first bird songs without being forced to.  All of them involve car shows.  This Saturday was my chance to see and capture Cruisin’ Ocean City for the first time and I wasn’t going to miss it!  Unfortunately, my day job…

Spring Car Show and Flea Market hosted by Rotary Club of Salisbury-Sunrise and Eastern Shore Region AACA in Salisbury, MD. on April 23, 2016.
